Heisman Watch: Caleb Williams' Heisman Odds Slashed Following News of USC Transfer

It's been quite the offseason for college football. High-profile coaches like Lincoln Riley and Brian Kelly left top-tier jobs to go to other big programs. For the first time in a while, the NCAA football coaching carousel was can't-miss television.

With all the back and forth from coaches came players leaving to find better situations. It's impossible to blame players for wanting to leave. If the coaches get to leave whenever they want, why shouldn't the athletes?

But, the Lincoln Riley departure from Oklahoma to accept the USC job left us with one of the juiciest storylines of the year, especially when it comes to our Heisman Watch.

Former OU QB Caleb Williams, who took the nation by storm and made a push to win the Heisman despite starting only half the season, has transferred from Oklahoma and enrolled at USC, following his old head coach Lincoln Riley. Not only did this impact odds for USC as a team, but the Heisman odds and our Heisman watch were immediately impacted as well.

Heisman Watch: Latest Heisman Odds

If you're wondering why you didn't bet Caleb Williams' Heisman odds before the season last year, it's because very few people outside of Norman, OK knew much about him.

Sure, Williams was a highly-rated recruit, but so was Spencer Rattler, the Oklahoma starting QB and Heisman odds contender when the season started. But, Rattler was terrible for most of the first five games, leading to him being benched against rival Texas and eventually losing his starting job to Williams altogether.

Now, just a year later, Williams is headed to USC and you don't need to scroll down the odds board to find his Heisman odds.

Prior to Tuesday's announcement that Williams would transfer to USC, his Heisman odds sat at +1300, implying a 7.1% chance that he would win the Heisman this season. Now that he's a Trojan, those odds are sitting at +800 with an implied probability of 11.1%.
