Hedon Hooker Heisman Odds: Tennessee QB's Heisman Odds Slashed After Win Over Florida
For weeks, outlets around the country have been focussing in on their Heisman Watch list. Which player will win this year's most-coveted award? Well, after Saturday, we have a new name in the mix as Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker saw his Heisman odds slashed.
I guess that's to be expected when you have perhaps the best college football game of your career against your team's biggest rival, which is exactly what Hooker did on Saturday to have his Heisman odds slashed.
With Florida visiting Neyland Stadium, Hooker completely went off. His 349 passing yards were the second most ever by a Tennessee QB against Florida. Then, he added 112 rushing yards for good measure.
Hooker, a Virginia Tech transfer, immediately went from Heisman longshot to the fourth favorite to win the award. So, let's take a look at Hendon Hooker's Heisman odds following his massive performance in Week 4.

As you can see above, prior to this week's win over Florida Hendon Hooker Heisman odds weren't really the talk of the town. The Tennessee QB was playing well, but he was lacking that signature Heisman moment to this point. Luckily for him, that came in the form of 450+ total yards against his school's biggest rival.
Not only did Hendon Hooker pass for 349 yards and rush for 112, but he also led his school to a win over Florida for the first time since 2016.
In response, Hendon Hooker Heisman odds took a massive cut. Before the Florida game, Hooker's Heisman odds sat at +4000, implying a 2.4% chance he would win the award. After the game, his odds were quickly slashed to +1400, implying a 6.7% chance.
Ohio State's CJ Stroud is still the favorite to win the award. Bryce Young, Alabama's QB and defending Heisman winner, is the second favorite and USC signal caller Caleb Williams is third. That's where we find Hooker at this point, as the fourth favorite to win the Heisman.
