Purdue and LSU will face off Monday afternoon for what oddsmakers are thinking will be a blowout win by LSU. LSU Tigers are riding into this game thinking the same as Purdue is without two of their essential offensive players.
Even with both rosters a bit shaken up from opt-outs and transfers, the books still see LSU as huge favorites. The Tigers come into this matchup 9-4 and are hoping to add a 10th win to their season.
Purdue enters the Citrus Bowl 8-5 but likely will not look like the same Boilermakers we saw throughout the regular season. NFL and Purdue legend, Drew Brees, will be stepping in as an assistant coach for his alma mater as former Head Coach Jeff Brohm left for Louisville.
With two conference runner-ups taking the field for the Citrus Bowl, this should be an action-packed game filled with lots of surprises as both teams' rosters do not look the same. Even without LSU's star wide receiver Kayshon Boutte who opted out, oddsmakers are still favoring the Tigers.
Here are our picks, predictions, and opt-outs for Monday's game between the Purdue Boilermakers vs. LSU Tigers in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida.

As mentioned before, oddsmakers are predicting LSU to dominate Purdue in this Citrus Bowl. Quarterback, Jayden Daniels, who previously announced he will be returning to LSU, will be 100 percent for Monday's game.
Daniels suffered an ankle injury in the regular-season finale against Texas A&M and then re-aggravated his injury in the SEC Championship Game loss to Georgia. The signal-caller had a successful regular season, logging over 3,500 yards on offense and 27 touchdowns.
Daniels was able to find so much success because of his No. 1 target Boutte. With Boutte no longer an option for Daniels, in addition to receiver Jaray Jenkins and tight end Jack Bech, he'll look for sophomore Malik Nabers. Nabers had a whopping 854 receiving yards and two touchdowns throughout his regular season and will face Purdue's defense that's missing their top corner, Cory Trice.
On the other side of things, we have Purdue. The Boilermakers compiled a successful season this year thanks to the quarterback and second-team All-Big Ten quarterback Aidan O'Connell. O'Connell had himself a year and became quite the duo threat with wideout Charlie Jones by his side. Jones will also not play as he has opted out as well.
The Boilermakers will have their top running back Devin Mockobee in Monday's bowl game, who recorded almost 1,000 yards this season. Starting at QB for Purdue will be Austin Burton, a senior who completed 24-of-32 attempts this season.
While Purdue had an impressive 2022 regular season that resulted in them making the Big Ten title game against Michigan, this contest will be much more difficult for them. The Tigers have their starting signal-caller and an overall better roster than Purdue does currently.
Purdue vs. LSU Prediction
Even if both teams had their full rosters, LSU would still beat Purdue. But now, adding in all of the opt-outs, transfers, and even their head coach leaving, Purdue's in for a wild ride.
The Tigers have too many weapons on both sides of the ball. LSU has had 15 practices now since their regular-season finale, all of which were used to prepare for this game. Jayden Daniels, Josh Williams, Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas, and Mason Taylor are all active and playing in Monday's game. The Tigers' offense will be a huge threat, and I'd be nervous if I was Purdue.
While I do think LSU can cover this pretty large spread, I'm going to play it safe and predict the Tigers' Moneyline. LSU ultimately has the better roster and is coming in with the momentum to hit the double-digit mark on their season.
