We're getting closer to finalizing the bowl game picture!
The conference championships are this weekend. But after this weekend, it'll be bowl season with the top four teams playing for a National Championship.
Here are my predictions for the New Year's Six Bowl Games.
College Football Bowl Game Prediction
Rose Bowl (CFB Semifinal)
Michigan Wolverines vs. Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Ducks are favored to defeat the Washington Huskies in Friday's Pac-12 Championship.
If Oregon pulls through against Washington, we'll see the Ducks in the College Football Playoff.
Meanwhile, Michigan is a 23-point favorite against the Iowa Hawkeyes for the Big Ten Championship. A win from Michigan would have them playing in the CFB Semifinal in the Rose Bowl against Oregon.
Sugar Bowl (CFB Semifinal)
Georgia Bulldogs vs. Florida State Seminoles
The Bulldogs are projected to defeat Alabama in the SEC Championship, while Florida State is expected to escape Louisville in the ACC Championship.
As long as Georgia and Florida State win, our College Football Playoff will look like this.
Georgia will take on Florida State in the Sugar Bowl Semifinals.
I'm not sure this would be a fun or exciting matchup. Georgia would likely dominate. But you can't keep Florida State out of the playoff with an undefeated record.
Georgia is still the king of college football. Take a look at the latest National Championship odds
Cotton Bowl
Missouri Tigers vs. Texas Longhorns
The Missouri Tigers deserve a New Year's Six Bowl after their domination against Arkansas to finish out the regular season.
The Tigers will be ranked inside the top ten in the College Football rankings and had one of the most surprising and exciting seasons in college football.
Meanwhile, the Longhorns still have a chance at making the College Football Playoff with a win against Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship. They'd need Florida State (and potentially Oregon) to lose over the weekend. For now, Texas will play in the Cotton Bowl in a fun matchup against Missouri.
Peach Bowl
Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Tulane Green Wave
If the Crimson Tide defeat Georgia on Saturday, Alabama could find themselves in the College Football Playoff. But the probability that Alabama wins is slimmer than Georgia winning.
Meanwhile, we must include a non-Power 5 team in the New Year's Six Bowls. It was Tulane last year, and'll likely be Tulane this year.
Tulane upset USC in last year's New Year's Six Bowl. However, I don't see Tulane coming close to Alabama if this matchup occurred.
Orange Bowl
Louisville Cardinals vs. Ohio State Buckeyes
After Ohio State lost to Michigan, the Buckeyes will be downgraded to the Orange Bowl. It's not where the Buckeyes wanted to be. But this is where the next best Big Ten team will land.
They'll likely take on the Louisville Cardinals in the Orange Bowl. Louisville's a 3.5-point underdog against Florida State in the ACC Championship. But even if the Cardinals win that game, they won't be playing in the College Football Playoff with two losses.
Fiesta Bowl
Washington Huskies vs. Ole Miss Rebels
The Huskies control their own destiny. However, since we've got Oregon earning the win on Friday night, Washington would be demoted to the Fiesta Bowl with one loss.
The final spot in the Fiesta Bowl would likely be between Ole Miss, Penn State, and Oklahoma. Penn State didn't prove anything this year except for their win against Iowa.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma has losses to UCF and Kansas.
The two losses for Ole Miss were to Alabama and Georgia. But they had wins against LSU and Tulane. So, I'll take Ole Miss to make it into the final spot of the New Year's Six Bowls.
