Heisman Watch: Heisman Rankings Heading into Week 2

The college football season got underway last week, and now the top quarterbacks will look to prove that their Week 1 stats weren't a fluke. Dillon Gabriel remains atop the odds leaderboard, but lost his lead a bit. Meanwhile Jaxson Dart and Cam Ward have flown up to tie him for the best odds with high performance outings.

Let's check out which of these star quarterbacks is currently favored for the Heisman, and who has the best shot to contend with them.

2024 Heisman Watch

Dillon Gabriel (+850) (Bet $100 to collect $950)

The Oregon Ducks started slow in the first game, barely beating Idaho as a 40+ point favorite. They were expecting to score 50 or more and run away at home, but instead won by just 10 in Dillon Gabriel's debut.

Despite the lackluster result, Gabriel was still impressive with his aerial attack. He threw for 380 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions, completing 83% of his 49 passes. While it looks nice on paper, he still needs to convert in the red zone and make clutch plays if he's going to lead this team to the playoffs and compete for a Heisman trophy.

Gabriel and the Ducks have a big battle with the underrated Boise State Broncos tonight. They are 19-point favorites, and have a team total of 39.5. Gabriel and coach Dan Lanning will definitely try to smash past that if he wants to stay up at the top of this list and make a statement.

Jaxson Dart (+850) (Bet $100 to collect $950)

The Ole Miss Rebels ran away with a whopping 76-0 victory over FCS Furman last week to start off their 2024 campaign with a bang. Jaxson Dart was nearly flawless, throwing for over 400 yards and five touchdowns. He added another score on the ground, picking up right where the high-powered offense left off in their bowl game victory over Penn State last December.

Dart was the biggest mover on this list after Week 1, flying up from +1500 odds all the way up to +850 to tie him for first with Gabriel. He certainly had the stronger stat line against a similar opponent, but will need to continue repeating it if he's going to take over the top spot.

Cam Ward (+850) (Bet $100 to collect $1500)

The Miami Hurricanes are thrilled to have Cam Ward at the helm after he transferred over from Washington State in the offseason.

He made his presence felt in Week 1, as the Canes ran away with a 41-17 victory in The Swamp against the rival Florida Gators. They were just a field goal favorite over the Gators on the road, and Ward looked like a true veteran as he commanded the Canes' offense in a hostile environment in his first ever start with the team.

Ward accounted for 400 total yards and threw for three touchdowns in the win, and the Canes flew up to 12th in the country after starting at 19th in the preseason. They have an easy tune-up against Florida A&M today as a 45-point favorite today, so look for Ward to pad his stats and potentially climb higher in this three-way tie atop the odds board.
