Heisman Watch: Jeremiah Smith Extends Lead After Another Dominating Performance in Week 6

Jeremiah Smith extended his Heisman Trophy lead after scoring two more touchdowns against Maryland, while Gunner Stockton climbed after leading Georgia past Alabama and Keelon Russell drifted following the loss. Check out the latest 2026 Heisman Trophy odds entering Week 7.

2026 Heisman Trophy Odds: Jeremiah Smith Running Away With Heisman After Six Weeks and 11 Touchdowns

Jeremiah Smith was already the odds-on Heisman favorite entering last weekend, and another two-touchdown performance has pushed him from around -110 to as short as -200. The Ohio State receiver has created significant separation from a quarterback-heavy field and now has 11 receiving touchdowns through six games.

Darian Mensah remains the closest challenger after Miami's bye, while CJ Carr, Trinidad Chambliss and Gunner Stockton all remain within striking distance. Keelon Russell suffered the biggest market setback after Alabama's first loss, making Saturday's trip to Tennessee especially important.

2026 Heisman Trophy Odds Breakdown

Jeremiah Smith -200 Check out these best odds at BetMGM Sportsbook

Smith only needed four receptions to make another major impact against Maryland, turning them into 93 yards and two touchdowns in Ohio State's 45-16 victory. He has now produced 27 catches for 516 yards and eight touchdowns over his last three games, which explains why the market continues moving aggressively in his direction.

Through six games, Smith has 48 receptions for 916 yards and 11 touchdowns, averaging 19.1 yards per catch and 152.7 receiving yards per game. He is already closing in on 1,000 yards before the midpoint of the Buckeyes' Big Ten schedule.

Ohio State travels to Indiana on Saturday for a major conference matchup. Another national-stage performance against one of the Big Ten's stronger teams could make Smith extremely difficult to catch in the Heisman race.

Darian Mensah +1100 Check out these best odds at bet365 Sportsbook

Mensah did not play last weekend with Miami on its bye, which contributed to his price drifting from around +650 while Smith continued adding touchdowns. His most recent performance came in a dominant 41-13 win at Clemson, where he completed 18 of 27 passes for 227 yards and one touchdown while rushing three times for 27 yards and another score.

Mensah has completed 112 of 133 passes for 1,438 yards, 15 touchdowns and zero interceptions through five games. His 84.2% completion rate remains remarkable, and he has added 79 rushing yards and two touchdowns to give him 17 total scores without throwing an interception.

Miami returns Saturday night against Florida State. A rivalry game gives Mensah an ideal opportunity to reenter the spotlight after sitting out while Smith strengthened his grip on the market.

CJ Carr +1200 Check out these best odds at Caesars Sportsbook

Carr remained extremely efficient as Notre Dame crushed Stanford 58-7, completing 14 of 20 passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. He also rushed five times for 41 yards as the Irish improved to 6-0.

Carr has completed 102 of 144 passes for 1,378 yards, 16 touchdowns and just one interception this season, good for a 70.8% completion rate. He has added 69 rushing yards and three touchdowns, bringing his total to 19 touchdowns through six games.

Notre Dame heads to BYU on Saturday for what should be a much stronger test than Stanford provided. Carr remains positioned to make a move because the Irish are undefeated and his touchdown-to-interception ratio continues to rank among the best in the country.

Trinidad Chambliss +1500 Check out these best odds at bet365 Sportsbook

Chambliss responded strongly from Ole Miss' loss at Florida, completing 20 of 30 passes for 213 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in a 52-17 rout of Vanderbilt. He added five rushing yards and another touchdown, giving him four total scores in the victory.

Through five games, Chambliss has completed 122 of 174 passes for 1,435 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions while connecting on 70.1% of his attempts. His rushing ability continues to add significant value with 113 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, bringing him to 16 total scores.

Ole Miss hosts Missouri on Saturday in one of the most important games remaining on its schedule. A strong performance against another ranked SEC opponent would give Chambliss another quality résumé result after already beating LSU earlier this season.

Gunner Stockton +1600 Check out these best odds at FanDuel Sportsbook

Stockton makes a major move into the Heisman conversation after leading Georgia to a 20-17 road win over Alabama. He completed 18 of 22 passes for 249 yards, one touchdown and one interception while adding 12 rushing yards and a touchdown in arguably the biggest win of his season.

Stockton has completed 95 of 124 passes for 1,298 yards, 14 touchdowns and two interceptions through six games, completing 76.6% of his attempts. He has also rushed for 134 yards and one touchdown while guiding Georgia to a 6-0 start.

Georgia returns home to face Auburn on Saturday. Stockton still trails the statistical production of several other contenders, but an undefeated record and a signature road win at Alabama give him one of the strongest team résumés in the field.

Keelon Russell +2000 Check out these best odds at Draftkings Sportsbook

Russell suffered his first major setback in Alabama's 20-17 loss to Georgia, completing 16 of 30 passes for 185 yards and one touchdown. He did not throw an interception and added 41 rushing yards on nine attempts, but the Crimson Tide offense was held scoreless in the fourth quarter.

Russell has completed 110 of 162 passes for 1,599 yards, 12 touchdowns and two interceptions through six games. He is completing 67.9% of his attempts and has added 225 rushing yards and four touchdowns, giving him 1,824 yards of total offense and 16 total scores.

The loss sent Russell from around +800 to as high as +2000, but his season is hardly over. Alabama travels to Tennessee on Saturday, giving Russell an immediate opportunity to respond with a strong road performance in another high-profile SEC matchup.
