NFL Draft 2019: This outsider selection is the most backed player to be picked first
Quinnen Williams is being backed ahead of Kyler Murray to be selected first in the 2019 NFL Draft, after a late surge of bets on the defensive end.
As big as +1400 seven days ago, one book now has the University of Alabama powerhouse just +500 to be picked first by the Cardinals. +500 is available on the Oddschecker grids.
48% of bets have been put on Williams to be picked first in the last 48 hours, more than any other player.
Kyler Murray is still the favourite to be picked first at -400, but we could see a similar pattern to last year, where Baker Mayfield was +2000 prior to the draft, but was backed in and ended up getting drafted by the Browns.
Nick Bosa is on many mocks as the number two pick, but is available at +350 to go first. Outside of those three, there’s a big jump to Josh Allen, who is +3500, with Dwayne Haskins +5000.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “The market is moving in a similar way to last year, when Baker Mayfield was backed into favoritism prior to the Draft. Williams is a stud, but it would still be a huge shock if the Cardinals didn’t select a first-round QB for the second time in two years.”
