Eagles @ Packers (-4.5), 8:20 PM ET:
The Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers are two teams currently trending in different directions.
The Eagles are coming off their second straight heartbreaking loss.
After losing on the road to the Atlanta Falcons, 24-20, in Week 2, the Eagles were unable to bounce back with a home victory over the Detroit Lions.
Quarterback Carson Wentz threw for 259 yards and two touchdowns, but the Lions escaped from Lincoln Financial Field with a 27-24 win over Philadelphia.
Eagles running back Miles Sanders and wide receiver Nelson Agholor lost fumbles, there were a few drops, and wideout Mack Hollins committed two pass-interference penalties. It was an overall sloppy game for Philly.
For Green Bay, it was just another day at the office.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for 235 yards and a touchdown and running back Aaron Jones came away with two rushing scores to lead the Packers to a 27-16 victory over the Denver Broncos.
Green Bay is now 3-0 on the season.
It will most definitely be a much bigger game for the Eagles on Thursday night. Can they bounce back after a home loss to the Lions? I just don’t see it.
Here’s an interesting stat: The Packers have won five of the past six meetings against the Eagles, including a 53-20 victory at Lambeau Field on Nov. 16, 2014.
Eagles Fantasy Star:
Zach Ertz, TE
We all know that Eagles tight end Zach Ertz is among the elite in the NFL. And we obviously know he is basically a must-start fantasy option in football.
However, with all of that said, Ertz has yet to find the endzone this season.
Through the first three games, Ertz has 17 receptions with 190 receiving yards. In the Week 3 game against the Lions, he had only four catches on seven targets for 64 yards.
Ertz is here because not only is he my fantasy star in this matchup, I am making the bold prediction that he will score a touchdown against the Packers’ much-improved defense.
We all know if Ertz is on your fantasy team he is 99.9 probable to be in your lineup. I’m just here to remind you not to forget about him because he is going to score a touchdown in Week 4.
Packers Fantasy Star:
Davante Adams, WR
Ertz isn’t the only fantasy star in this game not to score a touchdown this season.
Yes, Packers star wide receiver Davante Adams is yet to be on the receiving end of a touchdown from All-Pro quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Through three games, Adams has 15 receptions for 198 yards. In the Week 3 matchup against the Broncos, Adams was shadowed by cornerback Chris Harris for most of the game, and he was held to four catches for only 56 yards.
I expect Ertz and Adams to have better outputs in Week 4 and I’m backing both to score in this game.
