NFL Odds: Los Angeles Chargers Favorites To Sign Cam Newton
Cam Newton certainly divides opinion amongst football fans, but there’s certainly no arguing the former MVP would be a huge asset to a lot of teams next season, if he can get back to health.
Cam Newton's injury record is likely the reason he's still a free-agent but there’s been plenty of rumors on where he'll land, following his release from the Carolina Panthers, with various teams being linked to the QB. However, it appears that the Los Angeles Chargers sit in the box seat to land Newton as the man to replace Phillip Rivers.
According to the online bookmaker BetMGM, Los Angeles has a 33% chance of locking down the quarterback. BetMGM currently has the Chargers at +200, which means if you put $50 on LA being Newton’s next team you could potentially win $150 ($100 profit).

New England Patriots are the second-favorites to sign the thirty-year-old, they are currently priced at +425 with BetMGM. The search for Tom Brady's replacement doesn't end with Newton, BetMGM also has the Patriots at +400 to add Andy Dalton and +1200 to add Jameis Winston. There's also a chance they move in the draft or lean on second-year Jarrett Stidham.
There are only two other teams who have over a 10% chance of capturing Newton’s signature. Jacksonville Jaguars are currently +450 (18%) and the Washington Redskins at +800 (11%) to move on from Gardner Minshew and Dwayne Haskins respectively.
Despite the Chargers being favorites to acquire Newton, there appears to be momentum gathering in New England as the Patriots as their odds to have been slashed from +550 into +425 in the last week.Â
