NFL MVP Odds: Russell Wilson The Most-Backed Player This Week
The betting market for the NFL Regular Season MVP has seen a flurry of activity in the past week, and Russell Wilson has been the beneficiary of it.
In the past seven days, 55% of all wagers placed on the market have backed the Seahawks QB – more than any other player in the same time frame.
Wilson is currently the third-favorite to win the award with bookmakers with odds of +800, behind only Lamar Jackson at +700 and the outright frontrunner Patrick Mahomes at +400.
Put simply, Wilson’s odds of +800 imply an 11.11% likelihood of success and a bet of $10 on him today would net a nice profit of $80 if he goes on to be named the league’s most valuable at the end of the season.
Oddschecker spokesperson Pete Watt: “It won’t be a surprise to anyone to see the former Rookie of the Year among the favorites with the oddsmakers, but the density of wagers this week is a little more puzzling.”
“Even though the market figures indicate that Mahomes is twice as likely as Wilson to win the award, bettors have clearly not been deterred and it will be interesting to see if this trend continues as we creep closer to Week 1.”
