NFL Week 1 Odds: Bears at Lions Proving the Hardest Call for Bettors

The breakdown of bets on the spread market is almost down the middle

The Chicago Bears travel to the Detroit in Week 1 of the upcoming NFL season, and if the betting patterns are anything to go by then we’re in for an extremely tight contest.

The Lions are laying 1.5 to the Bears – one of the smallest margins of the week – and bettors have been wagering either side of the line in almost equal measure.

As of this morning, 52% of wagers have backed Chicago compared to 48% for Detroit – the most balanced breakdown across all 16 Week 1 games.

By comparison, despite a double-digit spread to cover in their game against the Houston Texans, The Kansas City Chiefs have been hugely backed with 88% of wagers in that game going in favor of the Super Bowl champions.

Oddschecker spokesperson Pete Watt: “Perhaps the reason that this is so finely balanced is to do with the unmade decisions that both teams face; will it be Nick Foles or Mitchell Tribusky pulling the strings for the Bears? Is this TJ Hockenson’s time to shine for Detroit?”

Only time will tell, but we can expect plenty more activity on this market as both team’s training camps progress.”
