NFL OROTY Odds: Edwards-Helaire Most Backed For Offensive Rookie Award
The NFL season is nearly upon us with the opening game on September 10 with Houston Texans @ Kansas City Chiefs, and we can exclusively reveal that it's a Chiefs player who currently is the most-backed to win the Offensive Rookie Of The Year award.
Whilst the Bengals' Joe Burrow is favorite with the sportsbooks at +240, it's running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire at +500 who has taken the most bets, a massive 42.86% of all bets in the past month.
Edwards-Helaire had a triumphant collegiate season, alongside Joe Burrow, at LSU but has become the darling of NFL analysts since the draft. He was the first RB drafted and landing at the Chiefs only boosted people's hopes this year. Last year's Super Bowl winning back Damien Williams then opted out of the the season due to Covid-19 concerns, which has made CEH the de-facto starter, in a move which has created huge news in real life and in fantasy football.
The next best backed star is Washington's Antonio Gibson, at +10000, who has taken 14.29% of bets. Gibson was only drafted in the third round, but after the release of Derrius Guice it has opened him up to more work. New Head Coach Ron Rivera's usage of Christian McCaffrey at Carolina has also boosted people's expectations for the versatile Gibson, despite them not being too similar.
Jalen Hurts is the third most backed, at 9.42% and a generous price of +10000. A more speculative bet it remains to be seen how often Hurts sees the field given the looming figure of Carson Wentz in front of him on the depth chart.
The aforementioned Joe Burrow has only taken a lowly 4.76% of bets, something of a shock for the former-Heisman winner.
