DPOTY Odds: Demarcus Lawrence the Weekend's Most Popular Pick to win Defensive Player of the Year

In just a few days, we will finally have regular season NFL football.
As the season approaches, bettors are racing to get their futures wagers in before Thursday, which has produced some interesting results.
One trend we saw over the weekend was a sharp increase in wagers on Cowboys DE Demarcus Lawrence to win this year’s Defensive Player of the Year Award.
Lawrence’s best odds of +4200 to win the award imply just a 2.3% chance. However, over the weekend a whopping 33.33% of all bets in the market backed him to win the Defensive Player of the Year Award.
Those odds are the 15th shortest in the league. Aaron Donald (+800), Khalil Mack (+1500) and Von Miller (+2200) top this year’s list. Chargers safety Derwin James was the third favorite to win the award before being placed on injured reserve earlier this offseason.
Harvey Martin (1977) is the only Dallas Cowboy to ever win the award. Khalil Mack (2016) is the last defensive end to be named Defensive Player of the Year.
