NFL Odds: Bettors Backing Justin Herbert For Offensive Rookie

Sports bettors have been rushing to back Justin Herbert to win OROTY after an impressive debut performance against reigning Super Bowl champions Kansas City in Week 2.
The #6 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft started under center and his 22 of 33 passes for 311 yards – plus a touchdown and interception – forced the game into overtime as the Chargers eventually went down 23-20.
Off the back of his performance, Herbert has been the most popular pick in the OROTY market, with 54% of all bets in the past seven days backing the young rookie.
As a result of this increased attention, oddsmakers has shortened his odds from +5000 to +2000 in the same timeframe, effectively stating they believe his chances have more than doubled from 1.96% to 4.76%.
This shift in price has already elevated him to fifth-favorite to win the award, behind only Joe Burrow, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Jonathan Taylor and Ceedee Lamb.
Oddschecker spokesperson Pete Watt: “After being thrust into his first NFL start, at such short notice, it would have not been a surprise had Justin Herbert faltered.
Not only did Herbert not struggle, he thrived, which has left Chargers fans excited to see what happens when he has time to prepare.
Bettors too had their ears pricked by the performance and have been piling in to the Herbert OROTY market in case this is the start of something special.”
