On Tuesday night, the New York Jets announced they had released Pro-Bowl running back Le’Veon Bell after Bell publically displayed his displeasure in how he’s being used on the field as part of the Jets franchise, on multiple occasions.
By Wednesday, the oddsmakers at BetMGM had already priced up which teams were most likely to land Bell following his release. Leading the way: The 4-1 Chicago Bears.
Le’Veon Bell
Bell is no stranger to bad breakups. Following a historic start to his career in Pittsburgh, he famously held out for an entire season before signing with New York during the 2019 offseason.
Things never really fit well for Bell in New York. He struggled to find a spot in head coach Adam Gase’s offense and saw his numbers and playing time decline as a result. As things took a turn for the worst, Bell began voicing his displeasure in the situation. His latest move was liking a social media post that called into question how he was being used by the Jets.
With injuries mounting up across the league, where will Bell end up?

Le’Veon Bell’s Next Team – Betting Odds
As previously mentioned, the Chicago Bears are leading the way, according to oddsmakers at BetMGM. The Bears are currently +400 to land Bell, implying a 20% chance he ends up in Chicago. The Bears make sense as they’ve struggled to run the ball through five weeks but are still out to a 4-1 starts.
Next up is the Philadelphia Eagles at +500, which makes considerably less sense. Yes, the Eagles need help on offense, but their best player right now is running back Miles Sanders and any move that takes touches away from him seems counterproductive.
The Cardinals (+800), 49ers (+1100) and Bills (+1100) round out the top-5 most likely destinations for Bell, according to BetMGM.
Team | Odds to Sign Bell | Implied Probability |
---|---|---|
Chicago Bears | +400 | 20% |
Philadelphia Eagles | +500 | 16.7% |
Arizona Cardinals | +800 | 11.1% |
San Francisco 49ers | +1100 | 8.3% |
Buffalo Bills | +1100 | 8.3% |
New England Patriots | +1200 | 7.7% |
Pittsburgh Steelers | +1400 | 6.7% |
Kansas City Chiefs | +1400 | 6.7% |
Washington Football Team | +1400 | 6.7% |
Tampa Bay Buccaneers | +2000 | 4.8% |
