Clemson vs. Boston College Odds: Spread Shifts After Lawrence Tests Positive for COVID-19

Clemson vs. Boston College Betting
It’s no secret how good Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence has been this season. He’s the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, the favorite to be drafted No. 1 overall in 2021 and has put up some insane numbers.
But, earlier this week, Lawrence received news that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and would be forced to miss at least this week’s game against Boston College.
Immediately, oddsmakers began to react, pulling the game off the board to try and adjust their odds. In the end, we saw exactly how valuable sportsbooks think Lawrence is to the Tigers
Clemson vs. Boston College Point Spread
To see how valuable the oddsmakers think Lawrence is to Clemson, we’re going to take a look at three numbers: The spread at open, the spread right before Lawrence tested positive and the spread now.
Point Spread at Open: Clemson -32
Point Spread on Wednesday: Clemson -29.5
Point Spread Following Lawrence Announcement: Clemson -24.5
As you can see, the line was already moving in Boston College’s favor prior to the positive test for Clemson’s QB, but it looks like the news of Lawrence’s illness moved the line a massive five points toward BC.
Lawrence, according to oddsmakers, makes Clemson almost one full touchdown better every time he's on the field.

Who will play quarterback for Clemson against Boston College?
Starting in Lawrence’s place will likely be freshman quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei. Uiagalelei was the No. 10 overall recruit in the 2020 class, according to 247. He was the top-rated pro-style QB in the class and the No. 3 recruit in the state of California, where he played high school ball.
Uiagalelei stands 6-foot-5 and has a massive arm. He can also make plays with his feet when he breaks the pocket, despite being listed as a pro-style QB.
He’ll be going up against another former top-100 recruit in Boston College quarterback Phil Jurkovec. Jurkovec spent the past two seasons at Notre Dame, where he committed out of Pine-Richland high school in 2018, but transferred to BC this year.
Jurkovec is 6th in college football in passing yards, one spot behind Lawrence, and has a notoriously bad BC passing game playing well.
