NFC West Odds: Almost Three-Way Tie in Division Race, According to Sportsbooks

Oddsmakers see the NFC West as a toss up

The Los Angeles Rams beat Seattle Seahawks, 23-16, over the weekend, and betting markets can now barely separate them, and the Arizona Cardinals, in the race for the NFC West.

The Seahawks, who have been the frontrunners in the market since Week 2, as the graphic below depicts, looked set to secure the divison but their recent play has presented the opportunity for their rivals to close the gap.

And they have done exactly that – with the exception of the hapless Niners. Both the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals have beaten the Seahawks in recent weeks, and the former now find themselves hot on the heels of the leaders.

Seattle still leads the market, with their odds of +175 carrying an implied probability of 36.36% that they win the division from here. However, the Rams have seen their odds cut as a result of thier win over Seattle and they now sit at +200, which represents a 33.33% chance.

And Arizona is right on their tails; they are just behind at +250, odds which are indicative of a 28.57% likelihood.

OddsChecker spokesperson Pete Watt: “As recently as two weeks ago, Seattle’s odds were so short that they implied a 69% chance that they would go on to win the division.”

“However, some extremely patchy play from both Russell Wilson and the team in general has completely shaken up the betting markets, and it would take a real sharp to put a lot of money behind the ultimate winners with any confidence.”

“Interestingly, it is Arizona that's proving the most popular choice with bettors; in the past week, 44% of all wagers placed on the market have backed the Cardinals to emerge at the top of the pack. The Rams are second with 29.63% of bets, while Seattle comes in third with 22.22% of the market share.”

“We’ve even seen 3.7% of very optimistic bettors put their faith in the 49ers to somehow turn it around from here!”
