NFL Odds: Patrick Mahomes Ahead Of Russell Wilson In MVP Race

Patrick Mahomes has overtaken Russell Wilson to again be the betting favorite to be named regular season MVP, with just six weeks to go.
Mahomes was installed as the frontrunner with sportsbooks at the beginning of the season, with Lamar Jackson his closest competitor.
However, the Ravens signal caller seems to be out of the running entirely now, with his odds of +10000 implying just a 1% chance of success from here.
Instead, it was Seattle’s Russell Wilson who emerged as the likeliest challenger to defending MVP Mahomes, and four weeks ago he was odds on – meaning that oddsmakers thought it was more likely than not that he would win the award.
Mahomes, meanwhile, did he see odds drift somewhat but always remained in contention – and now he has nipped ahead in the betting again.
Mahomes can currently be backed at odds of +200, which suggests he has a 33.3% chance. Wilson, although no longer leading the pack, is hot on his heels with odds of +280 indicating a 26.3% chance.
Aaron Rodgers is their only other real threat with odds of +350, as the player with the fourth best odds is Kyler Murray who is way out of +2500.
Interestingly, sports bettors have put their faith in Wilson, with 15.15% of all bets placed on the MVP market backing the Seahawk. Mahomes, by comparison, has not proven to be a popular pick with gamblers and he doesn’t even feature in the top five.
Instead, it is Arizona’s Kyler Murray is second best-backed with 14.38% of wagers, while Tampa’s Tom Brady is third with 11.11% of all bets.
