NFL Odds: Bookmakers Finally Install Green Bay Packers As Favorites To Win The NFC

Following their 31-24 win over Detroit Lions, sportsbooks have – finally – installed Green Bay Packers as the most likely winners of the NFC Championship game.
As the graphic below shows, the Packers have been considered as potential contenders by oddsmakers for a while, but at no point so far this season have they been considered the betting favorites.
That is no longer the case after Matt LaFleur’s men beat Detroit to go 10-3 and secure the AFC North.
At time of writing, Green Bay’s odds of winning the NFC Championship game are set at +260. Quite simply, these odds carry an implied probability of 27.78%.
Their nearest challengers are New Orleans Saints whose odds of +300 are suggestive of a 25% chance. Los Angeles Rams are third favorites (+500, 16.67% chance), while Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (both +650, 13.33%) round of the top five.
There's still some time to go as the Packers have yet to face the Panthers, Titans and Bears, before playoffs begin.
OddsChecker spokesperson Tom Dodd: “Green Bay, aside from a couple of very minor hiccoughs this season, have played some sensational football and we’re amazed that it has taken this long for them to be taken seriously by betting sites.”
“Aaron Rodgers may be in the twilight of his career but QBs of the past decade have built the mould of improving with age and he certainly seems to be fitting into it.”
“And it is now just oddsmakers who are finally rating Green Bay, but sports bettors too; in the past week, 23% of all bets placed on the ‘NFC Winner’ market have gone on the Packers, more than any other team during that time frame.”
