Who will start at quarterback for the Chicago Bears?
When the Chicago Bears signed Andy Dalton they told the world he was their starting quarterback. Even after drafting Justin Fields, oddsmakers are holding them to that promise.
Dalton is currently given -167 odds, or an implied 62.5% chance to be the Bears’ Week 1 starter. Fields is given +160 odds, or an implied 38.5% chance of making his debut to open the season. Nick Foles is on the outside looking in at +900, or an implied 10% chance to open the season under center for the Bears.
Fields is given better odds to start Week 1 than both Trey Lance, +220, and Mac Jones, +300.
Will Justin Fields start for the Chicago Bears in week 1?
I don’t expect Justin Fields to start Week 1. Matt Nagy was with the Chiefs when Andy Reid traded up for and then benched Patrick Mahomes as a rookie. This feels like a similar situation. Andy Dalton can start and provide a veteran presence until Fields is 100% ready to take over. That won’t be Week 1. Honestly, his odds being that short to start Week 1 is a little surprising.
