Christian McCaffrey Odds

Because running back shelf life in today’s NFL is so short, it always hurts a little more when you miss out on a season of them playing in their prime. That’s exactly what happened last season with arguably the NFL’s best running back, Christian McCaffrey.

Coming out of college, there were a lot of sceptics when it came to McCaffrey’s potential in the NFL, and it took him about one game to shut them all up. But, those questions had a lot to do with durability in a relatively small frame, which we saw last season. Let’s just hope it was a one-time occurrence and not the start of a long line of injuries.

McCaffrey is still only 25 years old, but he played just three games last season. He still scored an insane six touchdowns in three games for a bad Panthers team, but he was missed.

Now, we get ready for the return of one of the NFL’s most explosive players. Not only is he an elusive runner when taking a hand off, few running backs can produce the way he does in the passing game.

If we get a healthy Christian McCaffrey this season with former Jets QB Sam Darnold under center, who knows how good this Carolina offense can be?

Just how good do the latest odds think McCaffrey will be? He’s the second favorite, when it comes to the running back position, to win the NFL MVP this season.

Christian McCaffrey Total Rushing TDs Odds

Because Christian McCaffrey missed last season, there are a lot of good potential prop markets with a lot of value net to his name for the 2021-2022 NFL season. I would suggest staying away from any “to lead the NFL” props, as Derrick Henry touches the ball roughly five million times a game and they still believe is a balanced rushing attack in Tennessee. But, these total markets present real value for a guy like McCaffrey.

Right now, his total rushing TD market sits at 11.5 this season. If he plays all 17 games he’s going to score more than 11 touchdowns. He may do it in the first 11 games. Last year, while battling injury, Christina McCaffrey rushed for five touchdowns in three games on just 59 carries.

I know Chuba Hubbard enters the mix this season, but he’s an insurance policy. In 2019, when McCaffrey was last fully healthy, he rushed for 15 touchdowns. There is a real chance we see him pushing toward 20 TDs when it’s all said and done this year.

Christian McCaffrey total rushing TDs are set at 11.5 (Over -115)

Christian McCaffrey Rushing Yards Odds

At 1,200.5, Christian McCaffrey’s rushing yards prop is the fourth highest in the NFL. Just Derrick Henry, Dalvin Cook and Nick Chubb have higher totals set by oddsmakers. Had he not been injured last year, I think you’d see him above both Cook and Chubb on this list. But, it just presents an opportunity for more value.

The real issue for Carolina right now is offensive line play. They had one of the worst units in the NFL last year and it hans’t gotten any better this year. If Christian McCaffrey is going to be great, it’s going to have to be in spite of his OL.

Christian McCaffrey total rushing yards is set at 1,200.5 (Over +100)

Christian McCaffrey MVP Odds

It’s not exactly likely that a running back wins NFL MVP. As a matter of fact, there hasn’t been a running back to win the award since 2012 when Adrian Peterson did it. But, if there is ever going to be a running back to do it, one with elite skills in both the passing game and run game is the likely candidate. That’s why McCaffrey has the second shortest odds among RB to win MVP.

As is expected, Derrick Henry is the most likely running back. Like I mentioned earlier, not only is he great, but he gets the ball more than any other back in the league. Still, McCaffrey is right behind him at +7000. Henry, meanwhile, sits at +6000 and Dalvin Cook’s odds are at +8000.
