NFL MVP Odds: 50.8% of Bets Placed on Kyler Murray To Win
When the season began, Kyler Murray had an outside shot at competing for the MVP award. He was 10th on the odds market and was outside the top-10 on the betting market. Well, two weeks into the season and you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t think he’s a candidate.
Bettors have latched onto the Cardinals’ quarterback as their favorite to win the MVP. Over the last 24 hours, 50.8% of bets have been placed on Murray to win the MVP award. Tom Brady is second and he’s seen 35.8% of bets. Bettors have just run away with Murray as their favorite to win the award.
Meanwhile, oddsmakers have rushed to shorten his odds. Murray is now +800 to win the MVP, that’s an implied 11.1% chance. Only Patrick Mahomes, +600, and Tom Brady, +750, have better odds. So, while not as high as the bettors, it’s clear oddsmakers also love Murray’s start to the season.
Kyler Murray was nowhere to be found in the MVP betting market all offseason. Mahomes, Allen, even Jameis Winston saw time at the top of the betting market. Kyler Murray was never among those favorites. All it took was two weeks before that changed. Murray is now entrenched as one of the favorites to win the award, and I doubt he’s going to leave that seat anytime soon.
