Los Angeles Chargers vs Baltimore Ravens Betting Preview
The Los Angeles Chargers and Baltimore Ravens are set to put their respective 4-1 records on the line when they collide at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore. As per the Chargers vs. Ravens odds, books tip the hosts as the nominal favorites on the board. However, the betting public is down with the Chargers as the road underdogs.
Books opened the Ravens as the 3.5-point home chalk, but the NFL line has trimmed down to -2.5 as the public bet down the Chargers by a point. The total opened on 49 points but ticked up to 51 almost instantly with the over emerging as the popular play. Some sportsbooks have gone as high as 51.5.
Los Angeles Chargers Odds & Overview
The Los Angeles Chargers are riding a three-game winning streak into Week 6, comprised of keynote victories over the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, and Cleveland Browns. Thus, they improved to a 4-1 record and moved into first place in the AFC West standings as a result.
Justin Herbert is proving to be quite the revelation in his second year, taking a huge leap in his maturation and development as a bona fide NFL starter. On the strength of his impressive play, the Chargers upset Patrick Mahomes and Company 30-24 at Arrowhead Stadium in Week 3 to come through as the 7-point closing underdogs. Then, the following week, Herbert led the Chargers to the convincing 28-14 victory over Las Vegas as the 3-point home chalk. The win toppled the Raiders from the top spot in the AFC West after handing them their first defeat of the season.
Recently, the Chargers won a thriller over the Cleveland Browns 47-42 at SoFi Stadium with Herbert going toe-to-toe with Baker Mayfield and coming out on top in the duel. At one point, the Chargers were down by two scores before Herbert tallied them back. The defense came up huge in the end because the Browns did get the ball with just over a minute left on the clock. However, the Browns bottled it and the Chargers got the win and cover (-2.5). It was one of the best games of Week 5, hands down.
Baltimore Ravens Betting Odds & Overview
The Baltimore Ravens had no business winning last Monday night, but they did. And so, they improved to a 4-1 record to ascend to the top of the AFC North table, overtaking the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns (both 3-2) after they lost on Sunday.
Luck was on Baltimore’s side as the Indianapolis Colts’ kicker shanked a potential game-winning field goal. It was all the Ravens needed to take control in overtime and deliver the final nail in the coffin. Lamar Jackson orchestrated a comeback in the final quarter to tie the game 25-25, and then he marched the Ravens downfield for the game-winning touchdown in overtime to give Baltimore the 31-25 win.
The Ravens deserve credit for their fight, spirit, and never-say-die attitude that has seen them come back from behind several times already. It doesn’t make it easier for fans though, who’ve had the right roller-coaster ride of it.
Baltimore kicked off their 2021 campaign with a shocking 33-27 loss to the Raiders on the road before edging the Kansas City Chiefs 36-35 at home. Luck played a factor in Jackson’s first win over Patrick Mahomes and Company too, as they stormed back to erase a 12-point deficit and clinch the 1-point victory.
After the emotional high of Week 2, the Ravens put in a rather lackluster and languid effort against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. In fact, the Ravens were close to suffering the ignominy of losing to one of the league’s worst teams – according to the NFL odds – before Justin Tucker kicked a record 66-yard field goal to rescue the W for John Harbaugh’s side. Of course, the 19-17 win was nowhere near the closing odds, which tipped the Ravens as the 7.5-point road favorites. Indeed, the Ravens had no business winning that game either.
The fallout from Week 3’s less-than-convincing win was felt in the betting as the Ravens closed as the 1-point road underdogs to the Denver Broncos. An unfortunate twist of events that forced Teddy Bridgewater (concussion) out of the game in the first quarter played to Baltimore’s favor. The game was no contest from then onwards and the Ravens easily won 23-7.

Los Angeles Chargers vs Baltimore Ravens Betting Preview and Prediction
This is THE game of Week 6 in the NFL. The popcorn match. The marquee billing featuring two of the best NextGen quarterbacks, and two of the most exciting, offensive-minded teams in the league loaded with talent across the board.
Very little separates the pair on paper, prompting multiple sportsbooks to roll out a tight NFL betting line for this game with the Ravens favored at -3.5. But the line didn’t withstand the betting litmus test and trimmed down to -2.5 at the close of Monday Night Football.
Consensus betting reports reveal an overwhelming lean towards the Chargers and their giant-slaying quarterback Justin Herbert over the Ravens and former MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson. But it really is a toss-up between this pair for NFL picks. It’s going to come down to which quarterback gets the ball in the final minute of the game.
Both the Ravens and Chargers have shown their mettle through five weeks, proving that no matter what the scoreboard says, they’re still very much in the game. So, neither side can be counted out, and by that same token, it’s unlikely that this game will result in a blowout. So, it makes sense to play the underdog here. And that as it so happens to be is the Chargers.
