NFL MVP Odds: Lamar Jackson’s Stock Falls After Tough Thursday Night

It wasn’t the game that Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens were hoping for. The Miami Dolphins bleed points yet the Ravens only mustered up 10 against the weak defensive unit of the Dolphins on their way to a 22-10 loss.

It was a tough night in particular for Lamar Jackson, an uncharacteristic performance from him. He went 26 of 43 for 238 yards (just 5.5 yards per attempt) with one passing touchdown and an interception for a 73.6 rating. Jackson was sacked four times and he only rushed for 39 yards on the ground.

This was by far his worst performance of the season. There have been weeks where he’s thrown for less yardage but a 5.53 Y/A is just flat out bad and the 4.95 air yards per attempt was the second-lowest of the season for him.

Overall, looking at the complete sample size he’s still been steady. He’s sixth in passing yards, eighth in yards per attempt, 10th in yards per game, and 17th in rating. Before last night you could find him at +1100 but now, he dropped a significant amount to +1600. Matthew Stafford, Dak Prescott, and Aaron Rodgers have all jumped in front of him now.

Lamar is going to need a strong finish to the season to get him back in the conversation. They have a tough schedule down the stretch though as the Bears are the only team with a losing record over their final eight games.
