Carolina Panthers Expected to Start Cam Newton in Week 11
He’s back! Cam Newton signed with the Carolina Panthers late last week and surprisingly he got some action in the Panthers’ dominant win over the Arizona Cardinals. He went three of four passing for eight yards and a touchdown and he also had three rushes for 14 yards and a score as well.
When he finally got in the endzone he had an emotional reaction, which is completely understandable considering his career path over the past few years.
Well, that’s only the beginning. Matt Rhule told reporters that he will be giving the first-team reps to Cam Newton this week leading up to their game against the Washington Football Team. All signs indicate that Cam Newton will start for the Panthers this upcoming week.
You’d have to go back to September 12, 2019, for the last time Cam started a game for the Panthers.
Right now, the Carolina Panthers are three-point favorites at home taking on the Washington Football Team. Both teams are coming off surprise wins, the Panthers over Arizona and Washington over Tampa Bay.
Through 10 games, the Panthers are 5-5 with a 2-3 record at home. In order to keep in the playoff race, they currently hold the seventh seed (which means if the season ended today they’d be in a playoff spot) they need to keep pace in a tight NFC conference. Will Cam Newton be able to lead this team to the playoffs? What a story that would be.
