NFL MVP Race: Aaron Rodgers’ MVP Odds Slashed Following Week 12
NFL MVP Race: Aaron Rodgers’ MVP Odds Slashed Following Week 12
There has been a ton of news following Aaron Rodgers around this season, most of it for things that have nothing to do with football. But, after his performance this last week, Rodgers is making a push in the latest NFL MVP Race.
Sure, Tom Brady is still the favorite to win the NFL MVP, according to the latest MVP odds, but it’s Rodgers that is making the biggest move toward the top of the NFL MVP Race.
This past week, Rodgers overcame a toe injury to beat the Los Angeles Rams at home. Rodgers threw for 307 yards and two TDs while completing 28-of-45 passes. Rodgers was in control for the entire game and looked like he was toying with his opponents at times. As a result, his NFL MVP odds have been slashed.
What do Rodgers’ stats look like compared to the rest of the QBs in the NFL? As you can probably guess, he’s right at the top in almost every statistical category.
Aaron Rodgers Stats
Rank | Stat |
---|---|
2,878 (9th) | TD |
7.7 (8th) | Y/A |
261.6 (10th) | Y/G |
105.5 (2nd) | Rating |
64.9 (3rd) | QBR |
What has this done to Rodgers’ MVP odds and his place in this year’s MVP race? After Week 11, Rodgers was the fifth favorite to win the award and had odds of +1200, implying a 7.7% probability he gets his second straight MVP.
Now, just a week later, Rodgers’ odds are much shorter. Following the Packers’ Week 12 win over the Rams, Rodgers’ MVP odds now sit at +750, making him the third favorite and implying a 11.8% chance he wins it.
Like I mentioned earlier, Brady is still the leader in the NFL MVP Race with odds at +350, but Rodgers is making up ground and fast.
