It’s truly remarkable just how bad the Seattle Seahawks have been this year. Now I get it, they were without Russell Wilson for three starts but even with Russ starting, the team is just 2-6 in those games.
In the three games, since Russell has returned, the Seahawks are 0-3 with just 28 combined points (an average of 9.3 points per game). That frankly isn’t going to cut it as they have the 25th scoring offense. It also doesn’t help that Seattle has given up the most yards defensively too. It’s not just one thing that hurts this team, it’s everything.
Oh, and to make matters worse they don’t have a first-round pick this year thanks to the Jamal Adams trade. Seattle will be at a major crossroads this offseason as they’ll likely have to decide if they are sticking with Russell Wilson or Pete Carroll as head coach. Carroll’s had a lot of success in Seattle, but he may be on borrowed time at this point.
In their last three trips to the playoffs, they have just one playoff win and it came against the Philadelphia Eagles who were forced to turn to a 40-year-old Josh McCown after Carson Wentz was injured in the game. Heck, just last year they lost a home playoff game to Jared Goff/John Wolford. They let them put up 30 points in their own building.
This week, the Seahawks are taking on the 49ers who could essentially end Seattle’s lost season and end the Carroll and Wilson era for the Seahawks. If they lose, which is absolutely on the table, the hope for this team without a draft pick in the first round is slim to none.
Oddsmakers have Pete Carroll at +3300 to be the first coach fired, which is an implied chance of 2.94 percent. While that may seem low, with the way things are going in Seattle, they very well could be in fresh start mode.
