Chicago Bears vs. Green Bay Packers NFL Week 14 SNF Betting Odds, Picks, and Preview

This week’s Sunday Night Football matchup features a clash between NFC North Division rivals. As to the degree of the rivalry, that depends on which team’s fanbase you talk to. Nonetheless, the Chicago Bears will look to pull off a massive NFL betting upset on the road in primetime when they take on the Green Bay Packers. This has been as lopsided of a divisional series recently as you’ll find in the entire NFL. It comes as no surprise to see the home team laying nearly two full touchdowns ahead of this Bears vs Packers SNF showdown.

Chicago Bears Preview

At this point, Bears fans are more concerned about getting head coach Matt Nagy fired than they are with winning football games. Sunday night’s NFL betting matchup will likely only add more fuel to that campaign fire. Chicago announced that they will make another QB change back to rookie first-round draftee, Justin Fields. Of course, the Bears were able to squeak out a win on Thanksgiving with veteran Andy Dalton under center. The switch back to Fields likely hurts the offense more than it helps anything. That said, the offense was lifeless until garbage time in last week’s home loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Four Dalton interceptions headlined a brutal team performance.

One encouraging thing that did happen in last week’s double-digit loss was the emergence of David Montgomery. After doing next to nothing since returning from an injury, Montgomery accounted for over 140 total yards and a score last Sunday. It will be critical for the Bears to establish their rushing attack if they are to have any chance of springing an NFL betting upset on Sunday night. They’ll certainly need to score some points knowing the man playing quarterback for the other team. The Bears’ defense will be without Cassius Marsh and possibly also Akiem Hicks as they attempt to slow that man down.

Green Bay Packers Preview

After winning seven straight games, the Packers split the four matchups heading into last week’s bye. Sunday night’s primetime showdown will give Green Bay the chance to score its tenth win of the year. The NFL betting odds sure favor them heavily to do just that. Considering just how dominant the Packers have been against the Bears during QB Aaron Rodgers’ tenure, one can’t help but assume that run will continue. Including a 10-point victory in the Windy City in the first meeting of this season, the Pack have topped Chicago in 20 of the last 23 head-to-head matchups dating back to 2011. It’s a stretch of dominance over a division rival that is practically unheard of in the NFL where parity reigns supreme.

The difference between this year’s Packers outfit and that of previous seasons is that they are more than a one-trick pony. While Rodgers remains the key to everything offensively, the RB tandem of Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon has also been phenomenal. Even when Jones was forced to miss a stretch due to injury recently, Dillon filled in admirably. Green Bay is also much-improved defensively compared to previous seasons. The fact that the Packers have maintained a top-10 adjusted efficiency ranking against the pass despite being without star corner Jaire Alexander is quite incredible. Both the offensive and defensive fronts could be getting a boost this week as well with center David Bakhtiari and pass-rusher Za’Darius Smith trending towards making their respective returns.

Bears vs. Packers Betting Odds and Line Movement

The following list contains the best Bears vs Packers NFL betting odds and lines available in the market.

Moneyline: CHI: (+500) | GB: (-590)

ML Implied Win Probability: CHI: (16.7%) | GB: (85.5%)

Spread: CHI: +12.5 (+100) | GB: -12.5 (+100)

Total: 43 — Over: (-109) | Under: (-105)

Both the point spread and total have been adjusted for this SNF clash relative to opening numbers. The favored Packers have been bet up from an opening line of -11 to the current -12.5. This would suggest that the smart and public money are mostly in agreement, as 70% of all spread bets are on Green Bay to cover as double-digit favorites.

Meanwhile, the total has crashed down from 45.5 to the current mark of 43. The news that Justin Fields will be starting for the Bears as well as the low-scoring game the two teams played in the first meeting this season both could be contributing factors behind the move.

Bears vs. Packers Betting Picks and Prediction

For those bettors who like to chase large underdogs on the moneyline, definitely steer clear of this game. The Bears are the inferior team across the board and will have all they can do to stay competitive in this SNF matchup. As Aaron Rodgers said himself, he “still owns” the Bears and has throughout the duration of his time as the Packers’ starting quarterback. With injured difference-makers possibly returning on both sides of the ball, it is possible that this one gets out of hand. However, the 12.5-point spread is a lot to lay.

Instead, we’ll opt to play over the low total of 43. The Packers will certainly get theirs against a Bears defense whose motivation is questionable at this point in the season. On the other side of the ball, it is worth noting that Justin Fields made some nice plays in the second half of his last full outing four weeks ago. Perhaps the Packers’ defense comes out a little flat following the bye. A blowout scenario could also lead to garbage time points that help push the total over.

Bears vs Packers NFL Betting Picks: Over 43 (-105)
