Will Tom Brady Retire After 2021? Oddsmakers Give It a 50% Chance
Tom Brady is in the middle of what may be the best season of his career. It's right up there with even his 16-0 season with the Patriots. The Buccaneers are again favored to win the Super Bowl and Brady the favorite to win the Super Bowl. He's clearly unaffected by age, so it's natural to imagine Brady doing this forever. However, oddsmakers think there's a real chance this is Brady's last hurrah.
Is Tom Brady Retiring?
Is Tom Brady actually considering retirement? Oddsmakers believe there's a genuine chance, but it seems hard to believe. The ageless Quarterback is playing some of his best football, and he has one more year on his contract in Tampa. Could Brady walk away from that? It's possible, but it just doesn't seem likely unless he's given a reason to walk away.
Yet, oddsmakers are giving EVEN odds that Brady retires at the end of the season. That's an implied 50% chance that this will be the last year of Brady's career. He's not alone, though. Oddsmakers also give +250 odds that Bill Belichick will retire at the end of the season, a 28.6% chance.
The Buccaneers are given +500 odds, or an implied 16.7% chance to win the Super Bowl. Brady is also given -150 odds, or an implied 60% chance to win the MVP. He's the odds on favorite for the MVP award right now, with one month to go until the end of the regular season. So, if he does retire, oddsmakers believe he'll be doing so from atop the league. That seems like the way any player would want to hang up their cleats.
