NFL MVP Race: Aaron Rodgers is the New Betting Favorite After Week 15
NFL MVP Race: Aaron Rodgers is the New Betting Favorite After Week 15
For the longest time, it felt like Tom Brady was going to run away with the MVP Award. Heck, just last week Aaron Rodgers was at +600 while Brady was at -150 as the clear favorite. Well, a lot can happen in a week.
For Aaron Rodgers, he once again was dominant in Week 15. Against the Baltimore Ravens, he went 23 of 31 (74.19 percent) for 268 yards and three touchdowns. On the season that brings him to 30 touchdowns to just four interceptions and a league-leading 110.4 passer rating.
As for Tom Brady, well he once again struggled against the New Orleans Saints defense. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were shut out 9-0 at home to New Orleans. Brady struggled immensely going 26 of 48 (54.17 percent) for 214 yards zero touchdowns and one interception.
After Week 15 of the NFL season, here’s how the two compare head to head in stats:
Name | Yards | CMP% | TD | INT | Y/A | Rating | QBR |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Aaron Rodgers | 3487 | 67.8 | 30 | 4 | 7.9 | 110.4 | 66.9 |
Tom Brady | 4348 | 67.1 | 36 | 11 | 7.2 | 100.4 | 64.0 |
Over the last three games, Rodgers goes against Cleveland, Minnesota, and Detroit while Brady and the Bucs face off against Carolina, the Jets, and Carolina again. Neither of the two quarterbacks has to go up against a dominant defense again so it should be a photo finish here but in my mind, Rodgers is ahead by a nose right now.
We’ll have to see if voters hold the COVID situation over his head in the voting process but looking at what he’s done on the field there’s no question that he’s deserving of the award and could very well win the thing in back to back years. The last person to do that was Peyton Manning in 2008 and 2009.
