Jacksonville Jaguars Head Coach Odds: Nathaniel Hackett Is the Heavy Favorite
Jacksonville Jaguars Head Coach Odds: Nathaniel Hackett Is the Heavy Favorite
If you thought 2020 was bad for the Jacksonville Jaguars, 2021 was arguably worse. Urban Meyer lasted just 13 games as the coach and came with a heavy dose of baggage and controversy along the way. Despite ownership issues, this opportunity is an enticing one for the next hire.
Whoever Jacksonville hires will be able to work with a generational quarterback in Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence struggled as a rookie but the right coach can change all of that. Here's the odds for the next head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars:

Nathaniel Hackett (+100) (Bet $100 to win $100)
Nathaniel Hackett is actually a familiar face to Jacksonville. He was the offensive coordinate from 2016 through 2018. In 2017, he helped orchestrate an offense that was sixth in yards and fifth in points scored. The last three years he's spent time with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay and things have gone very very well. They've been top-10 in both points and yards each of the last two seasons. After eight years as a coordinator, he may finally get his shot.
Bill O'Brien (+250) (Bet $100 to win $250)
No way. The Jaguars can't be serious right? His downfall in Houston was atrocious and he likely held them back from success in the DeShaun Watson era. From 2014 through 2020, he made the playoffs four times and had five winning seasons. Please don't be fooled, it would likely go about as well as the Urban Meyer hire.
Byron Leftwich (+250) (Bet $100 to win $250)
Now, this would be a very cool story. Byron Leftwich was the starting quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2003-2006. He bounced around the league a little bit after that as a backup and ever since, he's been a coach under Bruce Ariens. In his three years as the offensive coordinator in Tampa Bay, he has had a top-three offense in points each year. He's become Ariens' right-hand man on the offensive side of the ball.
Matt Eberflus (+250) (Bet $100 to win $250)
Matt Eberflus has been the defensive coordinator for the Colts since 2018. He had some interest last coaching cycle but it looks like that is coming back again in 2022. Over his four years in Indianapolis, the Colts defense has been steady never finishing below 16th in yards and 18th in points. He's finished top-10 in points allowed three out of the four years he's been there and top-10 in takeaways every single season.
Eric Bieniemy (+550) (Bet $100 to win $550)
Eric Biebiemy deserves a head coaching job. He's been the offensive coordinator of a top-five offense for four years straight. Andy Reid has given him his stamp of approval, and sure Reid still calls plays for the Chiefs but Bieniemy is more than qualified to finally get a chance to coach his own team.
