New York Giants Hire Joe Schoen as New General Manager
It looks like the New York Giants have made their decision. Adam Schefter is reporting that the New York Giants will be hiring Joe Schoen as the next General Manager of the historic franchise.
Joe Schoen was previously with the Buffalo Bills since 2017. He did a little bit of everything with them including work in the analytics department, personnel department, and football operations as well.
Schoen interned with Brandon Beane, the Bills' current GM, over 20 years ago when he was with the Carolina Panthers. Previous to this hire, Schoen was looked at Beane's right-hand man and now he will get the opportunity to run his own franchise.
Beane will have some difficult decisions to make as he takes over this Giants team. The first, is who will he hire as the next head coach? Currently, Brian Flores is the favorite but after this news, one would have to imagine that Bills current offensive coordinator, Brian Daboll will leap up the board and be looked at as the new favorite.
The Giants also have to make a tough decision at quarterback. Do they give Daniel Jones a fourth year or instead will they look to move on in either the NFL draft, free agency, or a trade?
Regardless, this is an appealing job as the Giants have two top-10 picks in the upcoming NFL draft, and the opportunity to build this thing from the ground up in Schoen's vision.
