Niners Betting Preview
Kyle Shanahan and the Niners went into their NFC Wild Card Round clash with the Dallas Cowboys as the 3.5-point road underdogs, only to come through with the outright 23-17 upset at the AT&T Stadium.Â
The Niners got off to a hot start and built a 23-7 lead ahead of the fourth quarter. The faces of fans in the stands and the dejected mood on the Cowboys’ bench said it all. The Niners were in control, and the Cowboys were fast running out of answers.Â
The Niners’ defense was relentless. They pressured Dak Prescott at every turn and held the Cowboys’ offense to merely a touchdown in the first three quarters. With ten minutes left on the clock, the Dallas offense was forced to settle on a field goal and cut the deficit to 13 points.Â
With their season on the line, the Cowboys’ defense finally perked up and forced Jimmy Garoppolo into an ill-advised throw that was picked off. Prescott and the Cowboys' offense wasted no time, and they capitalized on the short field with a quick touchdown. But that was all they would capitalize on in the end. The final minutes of the game were hectic and nerve-biting, but the Niners would hold firm, and the Cowboys simply ran out of time.
Overall, the Niners rushed for 169 yards on 36 carries and two scores. Elijah Mitchell and Deebo Samuel were key in the ground game, moving the chains to the pitter-patter of their feet. Samuel also caught three passes for 38 yards, highlighting his dual-threat prowess. The defense sacked Prescott five times and forced an interception. The bad news for Shanahan was the departure of Nick Bosa, who left the game with a concussion. His status for Saturday is unknown yet.Â

Packers Betting Preview
Matt LaFleur capped off his third season with Green Bay on a third-straight NFC North title and a 13-4-0 regular-season record that awarded the Packers their second straight No.1 seed in the playoffs. All this makes LaFleur the winningest head coach in the league in the first three years of tenure.
Reigning MVP Aaron Rodgers is once again the presumptive MVP in the eyes of many NFL aficionados this season, although he’s not certain to win the award. Whether he gets the nod or not, there’s no questioning the value he brings to the Packers. Simply put, without the veteran signal-caller, the Packers aren’t Super Bowl contenders. Full stop. What’s more, he’s undoubtedly enjoyed a stellar season and that’s something nobody can take away from him.Â
Home-field advantage was huge for the Packers this season. They finished with an unblemished 8-0 record at home. In the last six weeks of the season, the Packers went 5-1 SU – the only hiccup was a loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 18. Aaron Rodgers started the game, but he was quickly subbed out for backup Jordan Love. At that point, the Packers had already sewn up the top seed. LaFleur, mindful of the playoffs, didn't take any chances to cause unnecessary injuries that would hurt his side’s chances.

Niners vs Packers Predictions and Picks
The Packers come into the divisional round well-rested and raring to go. The Packers defeated the Niners earlier this season, with Aaron Rodgers orchestrating a last-gasp, come-from-behind 30-28 win at Levi’s Stadium. The Packers were down two points and had just 25 seconds on the clock. It was quite the feat, not to mention it overshadowed Jimmy Garoppolo’s inspired rally to erase a 17-point deficit and give the Niners the lead in the final minute of the game.
Aaron Rodgers is 0-3 against the Niners in the postseason, including a 37-20 loss to the Niners in the 2019 NFC Championship game. The Packers will be looking to exorcise those demons Saturday when they welcome the Niners to the tundra at Lambeau Field. And, as it so happens, the public is backing Green Bay to do just that. Does the public have it right?
The Niners recorded the only upset of the wild card round, underscoring their credentials as the dangerous floaters in the playoffs. Right from the start, the Niners were identified as the team nobody wanted to face in the postseason, and they proved it right out of the gates. That raises one question ahead of the divisional round: Can they do it for a second week in a row? The simple answer is yes. They most certainly can.Â
This has been one of the most compelling matchups in the NFC over the last three seasons. With the coaching connections to the quarterback matchup and the way both teams play the game, these rivals have delivered some of the best contests. This will be a battle of wills; of which side imposes its game the best. It’s a coin-toss situation, and in such instances, there is probably better value with the underdog in point spread betting.Â
- Pick: Niners +5.5 (-110) (Bet $110 to win $100)
