Tom Brady is Considering Retirement From the NFL

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are getting ready to host the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs today. Just hours before kickoff, Ian Rapoport who covers the NFL for the NFL Network dropped a bomb on us.

According to Rapport, Brady is undecided with his decision to play a 23rd season in the NFL in 2022. The 44-year-old's future is "up in the air" according to Rapoport who cites other avenues and family as a reason for him to step away from the game.

In 2021, Brady put up impressive numbers so he would theoretically be stepping away with potentially more left in the tank. Brady threw for a league-high 5,316 yards and 43 touchdowns this year and is still in the MVP conversation as it's likely a two-man race between Brady and Aaron Rodgers.

Through his 22 seasons in the league, Brady is a three-time MVP, three-time All-Pro, 15 time Pro Bowler, and seven-time Super Bowl Champion. In 2021 he proved that he can win away from Bill Belichick and depending on what happens over the course of these playoffs, perhaps he steps away.

First and foremost, before he even gets to that point he has a game against the Los Angeles Rams today. It won't be an easy task in front of him with the number of injuries the Bucs are nursing at the moment.

It would be hard to imagine one of the biggest competitors stepping away if his team were to lose today. If he goes out and wins yet another Super Bowl, would he walk away on top with an insane number of eight championship rings? Maybe that is a different story. It is something we will certainly have to monitor this offseason.
