Saints 2022 Head Coach Odds: Who will lead the Saints in 2022?

The New Orleans Saints are about to add a new chapter to its franchise. Sean Payton hasn't officially retired, but his time with New Orleans has officially come to an end. Payton spent 2006 up until this season with the Saints, earning the Saints their first Super Bowl in 2009. Payton's success came from his quarterback Drew Brees. Every coach in the NFL is a good coach, but essentially, the coach needs a premier quarterback. Brees became the face of the Saints, but ultimately, Brees decided to retire a year before Payton stepped away.

The Saints had a rough year this season, going 9-8 and missing the playoffs. However, the Saints were without quarterback Jameis Winston for most of the season and didn't have Michael Thomas as a receiver. So there was reason for the Saints' struggle this season. Anyway, now with Payton leaving the team, the Saints are looking for a new head coach. I've compiled a list of three candidates that would make the most sense for the Saints at this time as head coach.

Dennis Allen (+300) (Bet $100 to win $300)

Dennis Allen is currently the New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator. Allen previously had head coaching experience with the Oakland Raiders from 2012 to 2014. It's expected that Allen will get a real shot at becoming the head coach of this team. Allen didn't have much success with the Raiders in his first go-around as head coach, but many coaches learn from their mistakes and perform so much better the second time around. It's said that Allen has really transformed under Sean Payton's direction. Having Allen as head coach would kind of keep everything in place in New Orleans. And after going 9-8 in a season with so many injuries, the Saints would instantly be playoff contenders again with Allen.

Aaron Glenn (+1200) (Bet $100 to win $1200)

Aaron Glenn had been the defensive backs coach from 2016 to 2020 and would like to move up to head coach this season. He was previously with the Cleveland Browns as an assistant and was the Lions' defensive coordinator last season. The Lions didn't have much talent on the defensive end, but Glenn still worked with what he had and made it work. He made a true impact everywhere he's gone on the defensive end. With Glenn already notably getting an interview and previous ties to New Orleans, at +1200, it's worth a shot.

Eric Bieniemy (+350) (Bet $100 to win $350)

It would be so cool seeing Eric Bieniemy as a head coach. But this is such a hot topic because the man has been looking for a head coaching job for quite some time. Does he fail in interview rooms or is it something beyond that? Of course, I have no clue, but he's been a stud on the offensive side of the ball for the Chiefs and he's currently working on another Super Bowl run with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' offense. Andy Reid admitted that Bieniemy is the one making every play call, so he's got to get a chance to lead a full team eventually. Coaching the Saints would be a solid fit and at +350, there's value there. He's got to be a top-three candidate at this point.
