Arizona Cardinals 2022 QB Odds: Will Kyler Murray Stay in Arizona?
There’s some trouble in paradise in Arizona. With reports that Kyler Murray is frustrated with the Cardinals, and rumors of Murray being immature, his future is starting to get questioned. Oddsmakers aren’t buying into the narrative though.
Murray is given -1400 odds, or an implied 93.3% chance to be the Cardinals Week 1 quarterback. The field is given +700 odds, or an implied 12.5% chance that any other QB will take the first snap of the 2022 season.
Oddsmakers are so sure that Murray isn’t going to be traded this offseason that they aren’t offering any odds on where he could be potentially traded. That’s usually a market that oddsmakers rush to with any rumor. All of Russell Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, and Derek Carr had those markets last year. Rodgers and Jimmy Garoppolo have had them this year. So, Murray not having one shows how confident oddsmakers truly are.
The Cardinals are coming off their best season since 2015. They started the year 7-0. The talent is there for them to compete for a Super Bowl, especially if DeAndre Hopkins stays healthy. So, it’s hard to see them trade Murray. They would need to be getting back a QB of a similar caliber in the deal. Perhaps something like a Derek Carr for Kyler Murray swap. There’s no chance the team would make a deal without knowing what they’re doing at the QB position. Given that, it’s incredibly unlikely a deal is made, at least that’s how oddsmakers view the situation.
