NFL Draft Odds: Aidan Hutchinson Given a 40% Chance to be First Pick
NFL Draft Odds: Aidan Hutchinson Given a 40% Chance to be First Pick
There’s been a ton of rumbling that the Jaguars would go with an offensive tackle at the top of the draft, Alabama’s Evan Neal being the favorite. However, oddsmakers still don’t see anyone other than Michigan’s Aidan Hutchinson being selected first.
Hutchinson is given +150 odds, or an implied 40% chance to be the first pick. Neal is his biggest threat at +250 odds, or an implied 28.6% chance. Kayvon Thibodeaux is still in play at +500, or an implied 16.7% chance. Ikem Ekwonu is a dark horse at +800, or an implied 11.1% chance to be selected.
No other player is given better than +3200 odds. Interestingly enough though, oddsmakers do still have three quarterbacks among the 10 likeliest picks. Both Kenny Pickett and Malik Willis are given +4000 odds, or an implied 2.4% chance to go first overall. Matt Corral is given +8000 odds, or an implied 1.2% chance.
This is the first time in a long time that there’s real intrigue at the top of the draft. The last time there was a debate about which non-QB would go first overall was in 2013 when the debate was about Eric Fisher or Luke Joeckel. Oddsmakers believe that despite all the talk about helping Trevor Lawrence, the Jaguars will just take the best player in the draft first overall. The Combine is just two weeks away, and we should get some answers then.
