Colts Week 1 Starter Odds: Mitchell Trubisky Given 20% Chance
Colts Week 1 Starter Odds: Mitchell Trubisky Given 20% Chance
The Indianapolis Colts are on the hunt for a new starting quarterback after trading Carson Wentz, and oddsmakers aren’t delivering the best of news. They believe that the front runner to land the starting job in Indianapolis is none other than Mitchell Trubisky.
The former #2 overall pick is given +400 odds, or an implied 20% chance to land in Indy. He isn’t the only outside option though, as Jimmy Garoppolo is given +500 odds, or an implied 16.7% chance to be the team's Week 1 QB. Internally, last year’s 6th round pick Sam Ehlinger is given +500 odds to be given the job.

In total, 7 players are given at least a 10% chance to be the Colts Week 1 starter. The most surprising among them is Derek Carr. The Raiders starter is given +700 odds, or an implied 12.5% chance to be under center for the Colts come Week 1.
Oddsmakers don’t like the Colts' chances of improving on Wentz. The guys at the top of the market like Trubisky, Ehlinger, Marcus Mariota, Teddy Bridgewater, and Jameis Winston are mostly backup caliber players or stop-gap quarterbacks. Of the 7 given at least a 10% chance, only Garoppolo and Carr would represent an immediate upgrade. So, it wouldn’t be a shock to see their +3000 Super Bowl odds also take a tumble by this time next week.
