Saints Week 1 Starter Odds: How Deshaun Watson Rumors Impact the Odds
The Saints are expected to roll with one of their two starters from the 2021 season. Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill are the favorites, with Deshaun Watson a lingering possibility.
Winston is expected to keep his job with +188 odds, or an implied 34.8% chance to be the Saints Week 1 quarterback. There’s then a gap to Taysom Hill who’s given +350 odds or an implied 22.2% chance to keep the starting job.

If they go for a new option, Watson is the favorite at +450, or an implied 18.2% chance. He’s not the only one though, as Teddy Bridgewater is given +500 odds or an implied 16.7% chance to return to New Orleans. There’s also an outside shot that they make a move for Jimmy Garoppolo at +900, or an implied 10% chance.
On top of the five given at least a 10% chance, oddsmakers have four other longshots that could take the spot and none of them are rookies. This is one of the most unpredictable QB searches in the NFL.

Oddsmakers peg the Saints as the second messiest QB situation in the NFL. Only the Colts have a messier one. Oddsmakers don’t think Watson ends up in New Orleans, as they’re third on his market behind the Seahawks and Panthers. That combined with their lack of cap space makes a return to the status quo the most likely outcome. Still, there are five quarterbacks given at least a 10% chance to get that job, so the Saints Week 1 starter job is up for grabs.
