2022 NFL Draft Odds: Travon Walker's First Overall Pick Stock Rises

In most years, everyone knows who the first overall pick is going to be. Last year Trevor Lawrence was a lock, the year before that it was Joe Burrow, but this year it's very much a question mark.

For a long time, the assumption was Kayvon Thibodeaux would be the first pick but that has long sailed. Then it felt like an offensive lineman would go number one overall and then now, it seems the flavor of the week is a pass rusher again.

Aidan Hutchinson is the favorite to go first to Jacksonville and he more than likely will be the pick but an interesting riser has been Travon Walker.

First Overall Pick Odds

NameOdds
Aidan Hutchinson-250
Travon Walker+350
Evan Neal+1200
Ikem Ejwonu+1200
Kayvon Thibodeauz+2500
Malik Willis+3500

Just last week, Travon Walker was at +1200 and now he has moved all the way up to +350. This is someone who wasn't even remotely in the conversation to go in the top five about a month ago but Walker's stock continues to rise as the draft gets closer.

Playing on Georgia's defense, the 21-year-old registered six sacks and 7.5 tackles for a loss. There's no denying his impact in the run game but at least to me, he hasn't developed into a true pass rusher yet.

Sure, the traits are there with him and one day he could develop into an elite pass rusher but his body type makes him a tweener. He's six-foot-five and 272 pounds which again makes him more of a 3-4 end than a true pass rusher off the edge.

Aidan Hutchinson, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and Jermaine Johnson too for that matter project as higher skill pass rushers so I will be honest, I don't get the love for Walker this high. Maybe the oddsmakers know something that I don't but the rise of Travon Walker is definitely something to keep a close eye on.
