NFL Draft Odds: Do the Texans Draft an Offensive Lineman with the 3rd Overall Pick?
The Texans have long been the wildcard of this draft. Oddsmakers have had five different players as the favorite to go in this spot just since the Combine. Now they seem to have settled on the offensive linemen.

Out front is North Carolina State’s Ikem Ekwonu with +200 odds, or a 33.3% chance to be selected third overall. He’s followed by Alabama’s Evan Neal with +250 odds, or an implied 28.6% chance.
However, the defense shouldn’t be overlooked. Travon Walker is given +400 odds, or a 20% chance to go 3rd overall despite being the favorite to go #2. Kyle Hamilton is also +400 be the pick despite his recent poor athletic testing numbers.
In the NFL there’s two ways to win games, protect your QB or hit the other team’s QB. If pass rushers go with the first two picks then the Texans will almost certainly look to find someone to protect Davis Mills. Ekwonu is the favorite for now, as he just edges out Neal. However, neither would be a surprise.

Of course, Hamilton is often considered the best overall talent in this class, but as a safety, he plays a much less valuable position. Would a team as bad as the Texans have been taking a chance on a potential star player even if he doesn’t play a premium position? Oddsmakers don’t believe the possibility can be ruled out.
