Super Bowl Odds: Sportsbooks and Bettors Sour on the Rams After Week 1 Loss

Entering Week 1 the Rams were among the favorites to win the Super Bowl. Their odds were as low as +900, or an implied 10% chance to win it all. That had them second on the odds market behind the Bills, but the best in the NFC. After a blowout loss in Week 1 though, sportsbooks aren’t so sure the Rams are the elite team they were believed to be.

Rams Super Bowl Odds

The Rams are now given +1500 odds, or an implied 6.3% chance to win the Super Bowl. That drops them from second on the market to sixth. They’re now longer the top team in the NFC, as the Buccaneers, +900, and Packers, +1200, both have better odds. They don’t even have the best odds in Los Angeles anymore, as the Chargers are given better odds at +1400.

Bettors are also souring on the Rams a bit. Prior to the start of the season, 3.2% of bets had been placed on the Rams to win it all. That had them 11th on the market. Since their loss though, only 2.8% of bets have been placed on them, 13th on the market.

How the mighty have fallen. The reigning champions have gone from being a favorite to win it all to just another playoff team in just one week. It’s almost as if the Rams Super Bowl victory never happened. Their tumble is the largest Week 1 odds shift since the 2017 Giants fell from +1200 to +2000 after their loss to the Cowboys. That Giants team went on to win only three games.
