NFC East Odds: The Dallas Cowboys Stay Afloat With Cooper Rush at the Helm

The NFC East looks to be a much closer race than most had thought before the season began. With an injury to Dak Prescott and a red hot start by the Eagles, how do the NFC East odds look heading into Week 4?

Philadelphia Eagles (-300, Previous: -200) (Bet $300 to win $100)

After the Miami loss on Thursday night, the Eagles are the NFL's only unbeaten team. And even though they may just be one win ahead of the Cowboys and Giants through three weeks, they appear to be so far ahead of the class in this division that it would be a massive upset if they don't pull off the divisional crown. Even with Dak Prescott due back in a couple of weeks, the Eagles have the firepower to beat anyone in this division.

They have scored 23 more points than any of the other three teams in the NFC East, they have allowed the fewest points, and the combination of Jalen Hurts, DeVonta Smith, and A.J. Brown on offense looks unstoppable right now. The NFL can provide some wild swings over the course of just a week, but right now this juggernaut of a team looks like it is on its way to claiming the division.

Dallas Cowboys (+500, Previous: +550) (Bet $100 to win $500)

Don't look now, but some Cowboys fans are already calling for Cooper Rush to remain the starting quarterback after Dak Prescott recovers from his thumb injury. He has led the team to two straight wins and the Cowboys' fans are so desperate for playoff success, they will cling to any hope of sustained winning. But make no mistake, this is Prescott's team, perhaps as soon as Week 5, and he is the best option in the race to take down Philadelphia.

Other reinforcements are also coming soon for Dallas. They should get Michael Gallup back in Week 4 as well as Dalton Schultz. Those key pieces on offense, combined with the otherworldly play from Micah Parsons and Trayvon Diggs on defense make this a formidable team. Circle the Christmas Eve game between the Eagles and Cowboys on your calendar. That one could decide this division. Right now, however, a bet on the Cowboys is hoping the Eagles face some sort of significant injury or slump this year.

New York Giants (+1400, Previous:+550) (Bet $100 to win $1400)

Many NFL analysts (and fans) believed the Giants were the luckiest 2-0 team in the league to start the year. Their wins came against the Tennessee Titans and the Carolina Panthers, both teams who look absolutely lost to start the season. And New York beat those teams by a combined four points. But that hot start came crashing down as they lost a home game to Cooper Rush-led Cowboys to fall to 2-1. The Giants get a soft matchup against the Bears in Week 4, but then they have games against the Packers, Ravens, and upstarts Jaguars. This could easily be a 3-4 team after seven weeks.

The wide receiver room for the Giants has been decimated by injury. Kadarious Toney, Sterling Shepard, and rookie Wan'Dale Robinson are hurt. Kenny Golladay isn't even playing and wants out of town. Washed-up players like Richie James are leading the team in receiving these days. Asking this group of wide receivers to produce at a high level with Daniel Jones as their quarterback is a tall task. However, Saquon Barkley looks healthy again and is back to being the Swiss Army knife in the Giant's offense. If this team goes anywhere it will be on his back.

Washington Commanders (+3000, Previous: +1000) (Bet $100 to win $3000)

After a strong opening week win against the Jaguars (who look like a playoff team), the Commanders have been embarrassed by the Lions and Eagles in back-to-back weeks to fall to 1-2. They now have a -19 point differential after just three games. After scoring 55 points combined in their first two games, the Commanders could only manage six offensive points against the Eagles as Carson Wentz turned back into a pumpkin against his former team.

The massive lengthening of their odds is deserved as the offense looks choppy and the defense is without their stud Chase Young for a couple more weeks. Where the Commanders' management has said they need to change is in their offensive identity. They have the fifth-highest passing rate in the league, Coach Ron Rivera wants them to be a rushing team. That lack of identity plus a leaky defense might keep them near the NFC East basement all year.
