NFL Fantasy Start Em, Sit Em: 20 Players to Start or Sit in Week 5

We've covered you if you're having trouble deciding which players to play in Week 5 for your fantasy football teams.

As we head into Week 5, there are still no bye weeks, allowing us to choose between every NFL team and player for another week.

Here are our thoughts below.

Quarterbacks To Play in Week 5

1. Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars

Trevor Lawrence struggled in his last start against the Eagles, fumbling four times. However, he's still thrown six touchdowns on the season and looks comfortable under center with the Jaguars this season. Expect him to bounce back against the Texans.

2. Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Meanwhile, Tom Brady isn't what he used to be. However, he's taking on a Falcons defense that has struggled in the passing game this year. With Mike Evans and Chris Godwin healthy, Brady is easily a QB1 heading into this week.

Is Tom Brady going to bounce back after an interesting first few weeks? Back his player props and use this DraftKings promo to bet $1 and win $125 on his NFL Week 5 player props.

Quarterbacks To Sit in Week 5

3. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions

4. Geno Smith, Seattle Seahawks

5. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

Jared Goff was able to score 34 points in fantasy without Amon-Ra St. Brown and D'Andre Swift around. Goff has been entertaining to watch, but he will have to take on an excellent Patriots defense that is usually prepared.

Also, don't fall into the Geno Smith trap. He's had two really good games against two really bad opponents. The Saints won't let him off the hook in this one.

Finally, Matthew Stafford is hard to trust. He's thrown six interceptions this season and is putting up the 25th-best quarterback numbers in fantasy. Dallas has one of the more underrated defenses in the league. He might struggle again.

Running Backs To Play in Week 5

6. Tyler Allgeier, Atlanta Falcons

7. Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints

8. Damien Harris, New England Patriots

Tyler Allgeier will get a ton of volume for the Falcons moving forward. He doesn't have the best matchup against the Buccaneers, but if you need a waiver wire to add and a flex option, his volume will be good, with Patterson now injured and out for the rest of the year.

It looks like Alvin Kamara will be good to go this week. The Saints just watched Latavious Murray leave for the Broncos this week. Murray put up some solid numbers, but if you're a Kamara owner, it's good to see that Murray has already left the team. It's the Kamara and Ingram show, as we all expected.

It's never the most exciting thing to start Patriots players. But the Lions have been so bad defensively that it's time to look at Damien Harris. Harris just knows how to find the end zone and should be able to break out for some significant gains against this terrible defense.

Are the banged-up Patriots going to rely on their run game more? If you believe they are, back Damien Harris at BetMGM and turn $10 into $200 by betting on Damien Harris' player props.

Running Backs To Sit in Week 5

9. Michael Carter, New York Jets

10. James Conner, Arizona Cardinals

Breece Hall will undoubtedly take over Michael Carter as the season progresses in carries and snap percentages. He's someone to stay away from, as he was a nonfactor last week.

Conner only has one touchdown through four games this season. He's also rushed for just 145 yards and has 95 receiving yards. His fantasy outlook was high due to his touchdown potential. He hasn't scored many, and the Cardinals' offense doesn't look that good.

Wide Receivers To Play in Week 5

11. Gabe Davis, Buffalo Bills

12. Allen Lazard, Green Bay Packers

Although Davis is coming off an injury, the more reps and routes he runs, the more efficient he'll become. Coming into the season, the expectations were that Davis would break out. He didn't last week, but things are about to change with a whole week of practice.

Meanwhile, Lazard just caught six passes for 116 yards last week. He had some big 20+ yard grabs and ran after the catch at some points. He's starting to become Green Bay's legitimate number one receiver.

Wide Receivers To Sit in Week 5

13. Amari Cooper, Cleveland Browns

14. Diontae Johnson, Pittsburgh Steelers

15. D.J. Moore, Carolina Panthers

None of these three receivers reached over 50 yards last week. Cooper's had some big weeks this year, but consistency will be a real problem. On the other hand, Johnson will likely have Kenny Pickett throwing him the ball. We'll have to wait and see how that chemistry is.

Finally, D.J. Moore hasn't been able to get going with Baker Mayfield under center.

Tight Ends To Play in Week 5

16. David Njoku, Cleveland Browns

17. Tyler Conklin, New York Jets

Njoku and Conklin will be legitimate options in the passing game for their teams. Njoku is coming off a seven-target game against the Falcons with the Browns, while Conklin was thrown five targets by Zach Wilson last week against the Steelers.

Can Conklin take advantage of a Dolphins secondary that has had its flaws to start the season? Use this FanDuel promo code to win $150 on his props in Week 5.

Tight Ends To Sit in Week 5

18. Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars

19. Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears

20. Logan Thomas, Washington Commanders

All three of these tight ends have the potential to catch touchdown passes. But they're not going to be heavily targeted throughout each game.
