2022 NFL Coach of the Year Odds: Brian Daboll Makes His Case With Giants Upset of Packers in London

The Giants are off to a surprising 4-1 start to the 2022 season. Under the direction of their new head coach Brian Daboll. They shocked everyone Sunday morning when they took down Aaron Rodgers and the Packers with a 27-22 win. The Giants trailed entering the second half but they rallied together and held the Packers offense scoreless in the second half on their way to another victory.

Following the Giants' 4-1 start Daboll still sits fifth in the Coach of the Year odds. The head coaches that are ahead of him have still yet to play their Week 5 games or they are currently underway. There's a chance that entering Week 6, Daboll's odds jump into the top three. He currently has an implied 5.9% chance of being named Coach of the Year. I'm expecting this to change upon the completion of the rest of the games this Sunday afternoon.

The Giants are leaps and bounds better than they were a season ago. Daboll has done a remarkable job showing resiliency and toughness every fan wants to see from their team. The Giants win today was special as they were missing some of their key players. Leonard Williams and Azeez Ojulari were inactive on defense and Adoree Jackson left the game due to injury. On offense, Daniel Jones was nursing an ankle injury, Saquon Barkley left for the majority of the third quarter due to an injury scare and they entered the game without wide receivers Kenny Golladay, Sterling Shephard, Kadarius Toney, and Wan’Dale Robinson.

The Giants schedule is one of the easiest in the NFL this season. Next up is a date with the Baltimore Ravens at Metlife followed up by road matchups with the Jaguars and Seahawks before their Week 9 bye. Out of the bye they take on the Texans and the Lions at home in Weeks 10 and 11. The Giants have a real chance to continue their incredible 2022 season.
