NFC East Odds: Sunday Night Football Eagles vs. Cowboys Could Tip the Scales

The NFC East looks to be a much closer race than most had thought before the season began. With an injury to Dak Prescott, a red-hot start by the Eagles, and a surprising Giants team, how do the NFC East odds look heading into Week 6?
NFC East Odds
Philadelphia Eagles (-250, Previous: -300) (Bet $250 to win $100)
We shouldn't read too much into it after another impressive Eagles win in Week 5, but their odds worsened for the first time this season in advance of the biggest game of the year against the Dallas Cowboys. Many analysts thought Dallas would struggle in the games without Dak Prescott, but they continue to win and are now 4-1 with Dak due back soon.
For the Eagles, that puts an incredible amount of pressure on them this week. If the Cowboys win, they will have identical records more than a third of the way through the season, and Dallas would also hold the early-season tiebreaker. Still, there is a reason why the gap is still so large between the Eagles and Cowboys. Philadelphia has about as complete a team as there is in the NFL. Besides being undefeated, they rank top four in both yards allowed per game on defense and yards gained per game on offense.
Dallas Cowboys (+340, Previous: +375) (Bet $100 to win $340)
Even with Dak Prescott not back on the field yet, the Cowboys haven't lost a beat and are cruising with a 4-1 record heading into the massive showdown with Philadelphia. The more they keep winning with Cooper Rush at quarterback, the more oddsmakers and sportsbooks seem to inch their odds closer to Philadelphia. They know Dak is close to a return and these two heavyweights at the top are very similarly matched.
The major area of improvement for the Cowboys has been on defense. They are second in the league in both sacks and turnovers forced. They allow just the seventh-fewest yards per game to opposing defenses and only 14.4 points per game (third in the NFL). It's hard to call a game in Week 6 a must-win for either squad, but there may be a razor-thin margin separating these two at the end of the year, making this win of the utmost importance.

New York Giants (+1200, Previous: +1400) (Bet $100 to win $1200)
Many NFL analysts (and fans) believe the Giants are the luckiest 4-1 team in the league to start the year. Their first three wins came against the Tennessee Titans, the Carolina Panthers, and the Chicago Bears, all teams who look quite underwhelming to start the season. Their fourth win game against a Green Bay that looked like jet lag caught up with them in London last week. New York's wins against those teams have come by a combined 16 points. Their one loss came in a home game to a Cooper Rush-led Cowboys, a sign of what will come when the Giants start playing more divisional games.
Saquon Barkley is back to looking like the best running back in the league, however. It's a good thing, too, because New York still suffers from injuries to Wan'Dale Robinson, Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, and Sterling Shepard. Daniel Jones has basically stopped throwing the ball more than five yards past the line of scrimmage, so this team will go as far as Barkley will take them.
Washington Commanders (+15000, Previous: +6500) (Bet $100 to win $15,000)
The Commanders' season looks to be over already as they are the only team in their division without at least four wins. After an early win against Jacksonville, it has been all downhill for Washington to the point that any hope of improving even to make the playoffs now seems like a longshot.
To make matters worse, head coach Ron Rivera criticized their new quarterback Carson Wentz after their Week 5 game and then had to go apologize to the team in advance of their Thursday night primetime game against the Chicago Bears. It's looking like another lost season in the nation's capital, but perhaps their reward for all the turmoil will be one of the elite quarterbacks in the 2023 draft.
