Texans vs Cowboys Odds
Team | Spread | % of bets placed |
---|---|---|
Houston Texans | +17.5 | 60% |
Dallas Cowboys | -17.5 | 40% |
Historically, it’s not a bad bet. These teams have played 5 times and the Cowboys are just 3-2. In fact, the Texans won their last meeting in 2018. That said, the Texans have never beaten the Cowboys in Dallas.
The Texans also have a recent history of pulling big upsets. In 2021, they won two games where they were at least 10-point underdogs. Even for the Texans though, this spread is historic. It’s the second largest in team history, only beaten by a 2002 matchup in Week 4 against the Eagles when they were 19-point underdogs. They lost that one 35-17.
For the Cowboys, this will be the fourth time this season they’ve been favored by at least 10 points, they’ve won every one of those games. The last time they were favored by this much though? That would be 2019 when they were 22-point favorites against the Miami Dolphins, they won 31-6.
This one is a little hard to understand. All the signs from this season and historical data would point to the Cowboys. Dallas isn’t prone to major upsets, they’re unbeaten at home against Houston, and the Texans have never won a game with a spread like this before.
Yet, bettors are backing the Texans. Perhaps it’s the defensive performance against a returning Deshaun Watson that’s sparked some belief. Maybe it's the in-state rivalry and the fuel that could bring. Whatever the case, bettors are throwing caution to the wind and backing one of the biggest underdogs of the season.
