Anderson is now given -175 odds or an implied 63.6% chance. Meanwhile, former favorite Jalen Carter has fallen to +470 or an implied 17.5% chance after his arrest. In between the two is Tyree Wilson, who’s now given +320 odds or an implied 23.8% chance.
No other player is given more than a 1% chance to be the first defensive player selected. That’s Christian Gonzalez, who’s given +5000 odds or an implied 1% chance.
Will Anderson’s athletic testing wasn’t the best, but it was enough to establish himself as a top-five pick in the draft. That should be enough to lock him in as the first defensive player drafted after Jalen Carter’s off the field issues. Things can change fast if Jalen Carter clears up his issues, but for now, Anderson is locked in as the top defender in the class.
