DraftKings NFL Best Ball Format
When it comes to DraftKings NFL Best Ball, it is similar to any Best Ball NFL fantasy you would have played before.
You will draft 20 players in a snake draft, and DraftKings Sportsbook will build your optimal lineup each week, to give you a weekly score. The player with the most points in your league at the end of the season wins!
With DraftKings NFL Best Ball you have a chance to play for a total of $10 Million in prizes, with $1 Million awarded to the overall winner of the 2023 DraftKings NFL Best Ball.
What is the Difference Between NFL Best Ball and Regular NFL Fantasy Leagues?
Best Ball is a different format to your regular NFL Fantasy Football, as you are not trading, picking up players on the waiver wire, or even setting your lineups week-to-week!
All you will do is draft 20 players from the off, and then your best players each week will make up your score. These players (1 x Quarterback, 2 x Running Back, 3 x Wide Receiver, 1 x Tight End) will all be picked for you each week, based on the highest scorers in each position.
This means you will not only draft the players you think are best in each position, you will also be looking for sleepers in each category, who you think can have big spike weeks and win you a matchup on any given week.
Best Ball strategies
Here are two of the most common Best Ball Strategies among experienced players right now.
We cannot say whether you should employ these strategies in your DraftKings NFL Best Ball $10M Millionaire season-long event, but they are popular ways to play the game.
Two-Quarterbacks
There is a debate among players about whether you should take two or three Quarterbacks in your Best Ball draft.
The idea behind two is that you pick an elite scoring Quarterback you can rely on every week to deliver and a capable backup who can spike and outscore your main man every now and then, and then you can use the additional spot you save on a Wide Receiver, Running Back or Tight End.
The issue with this strategy would be if your #1 Quarterback got injured, and your second choice wasn't quite good enough to carry your team. At least if you draft three Quarterbacks at the start, you should have two, and maybe three shots each week at a high-scoring QB.
Zero-RB
Zero-RB doesn't mean you won't draft a Running Back at all, because you literally have to have two, but it means you will prioritize other positions before coming to your Running Backs.
This strategy is employed by users who think the Running Back position is volatile and comes with a lot of depth. These players will be comfortable with passing on the very best Running Backs in the league, with the theory that any two of their pool of Running Backs can score enough each week, to replicate taking a higher draft pick in this position.
Value Picks in NFL Best Ball 2023
Here are some players that are considered good value in this season's DraftKings NFL Best Ball format.
Quarterback
Russell Wilson (QB18 ADP)
Many believe Russell Wilson is set for a bounce-back season, and if that is the case, there will certainly be value in taking him as the 18th QB off the board!
Sean Payton should improve things for the Broncos and with weapons like Jerry Jeudy back at his disposal, Wilson should offer value in NFL Best Ball.
Running Back
Cam Akers (QB21 ADP)
Darrell Henderson is out of the door, which means Cam Akers' competition for reps is Sony Michel and Zach Evans.
Akers proved himself again down the stretch last year, and with Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp back healthy, and Sean McVay returning, this offense could make big improvements in 2023.
Wide Receiver
Diontae Johnson (WR30 ADP)
Diontae Johnson broke an NFL record with 147 targets without a touchdown reception, but as he's another year wiser, and Kenny Pickett enters his second season in the NFL, things will likely improve.
The target share will be there, and Johnson is capable of turning these into more scoring opportunities. He's a player you want in your DraftKings NFL Best Ball $10M Millionaire team.
Tight End
Dalton Kincaid (TE15 ADP)
The Buffalo Bills' offense should provide fireworks again this year, but it is not going to be easy to draft Josh Allen or Stefon Diggs, so this might be the smart way to get a player from this high-scoring offense on your team.
He should be a massive Redzone threat, akin to Travis Kelce in Kansas, as his 6'4, 248 lbs build should make him a matchup nightmare.
Kincaid could be the type to challenge the top of the Tight End scoring charts if he acclimatizes quickly to the NFL.
