NFL Preseason Odds: Best Betting Markets for NFL Preseason Week 1
With uncertainty over rosters and how many minutes starters, or even second-string players are going to get in the NFL Preseason, you do not see the same player props you normally would in an NFL game.
That doesn't mean there aren't a multitude of ways to bet on the NFL.
Here are the most popular betting markets for the NFL Preseason.
Moneyline
Obviously, the Moneyline betting option is available during the NFL Preseason and it will always remain one of the most popular betting options, due to its simplicity.
Bet on which team you think will win, with no other implications on when a team wins, or by how many points. This is a straight-up bet on your chosen team.
Our favorite NFL Preseason Week 1 Moneyline is the Los Angeles Chargers, who are +135 on the Moneyline, to beat the Los Angeles Rams. Get the best odds on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Spread Betting
Spread betting is arguably the most popular and talked about bet in sports, particularly in the NFL. Contests, including the famous Super Contest in Las Vegas center around weekly NFL spreads, and they are always a big talking point.
Instead of betting on a team to win, you are either betting on a team to win and cover the spread or lose, but cover the spread. For example, if a team is -2.5 on the spread, you need them to win by 3 points or more to cover your bet. If you think the opponent will lose but could keep it close, you would take the +2.5 spread, which the losing team would cover, if they lost by just one or two points.
The New York Jets lost to the Cleveland Browns, but they have a great preseason record since Robert Saleh took over as Head Coach, so bet the Jets +3.5 and win even if they lose by a field goal.
Bet on Jets +3.5 at -110 over at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Game Total
Here you are just betting on the total points scored in the game. It doesn't matter if you want to target a potentially low-scoring game and take the under, or bet on a shootout, taking the over, the Game Total bet gives you the chance to bet on a game, without predicting a winner.
Take the under 38.5 points in the Houston Texans vs New England Patriots NFL Preseason Week 1 opener. This line can be bet at DraftKings.
